2020: March 4, Fishing Report

Spring is in the air! March is always an exciting month here on the Florida Panhandle with the water and air temperature starting to rise the fishing will get better every day. Inshore the Sheepshead are starting to bite pretty good and any day now they will start to spawn and that is when they really start to chew! Redfish, Black Drum, White Trout and Speckled Trout are also starting to bite very well. Along the beaches and Nearshore in The Gulf everyone is waiting for the Cobia migration to begin! They typically show up mid to late March and run through mid May. They are by far my favorite fish to target and make excellent table fare. Offshore right now Trigger Fish are open & Vermillion Snapper. Also, there is plenty of big Amberjack and Red Snapper around for some catch and release fun! Amberjack season will open May 1st and Red Snapper season will be open June 11th through July 25th. Also, near the end of the month a lot of our migratory species will return as the water temp rises. Fish such as Spanish Mackerel,King Mackerel,Pompano Mahi-Mahi,Sailfish and many others. Everything is starting to come to life and I am excited for a great fishing season!
